Do your running shoes have a new life ahead of them in a children’s playground? They might, if you recycle them. The outer soles and inner midsoles of athletic shoes can be ground down and recreated as cushiony playground surfaces. A shoe’s upper materials can be made into indoor volleyball and basketball courts. Challenge yourself to recycle your current pair of sneakers when you can no longer wear them. PaHiker-I donated mine at a locally owned running store that heads up donations – you don’t have to donate only to nike, hope this helps!
This is a great idea, unfortunately there aren’t any locations near me…maybe by the time mine wear out?!
I had over 70 pairs of running shoes saved up in my house from all of my years running. I even had my very first running shoes EVER! I finally decided to become emotionally unattached to them and donate them to nike.
