Go easy on the mayo

That mayonnaise or ketchup on your sandwich may not taste salty, but if it’s commercially made, it’s likely to include loads of sodium. If you’re trying to cut back on your salt intake, keep an eye out for hidden sources like ketchup, soy sauce, mustard, pickles and mayonnaise. Any of these foods can be high in salt—and you might know it by taste alone. Challenge yourself today to check the sodium levels on condiments you reach for often, and consider these sources as you tally your daily intake.

I’ve always hated mayo, and for the past year or so, I’ve avoided ketchup. I see no reason for it to have HFCS but it always does. Now I only use mustard, the yellow kind, which has no sugar! Much better for you, and tastier, too.

I love challenges like these. I don’t eat mayo or ketchup. If I use any condiment it is usually mustard

I had no idea that mayo & ketchup had as much sodium listed on the labels of some well known companies.I also found out that high fructose corn syrup was in ketchup as well.

Totally easy since we don’t use mayo, and rarely use ketchup, soysauce or the other things. I have been watching added sodium for years now

This was a very easy challenge! I usually make my own mayonnaise. It is healthier and far tastier than that sold in stores. It is a Creole recipe-hot and garlicky!

I’d love that recipe if you’re willing to share. I love creole seasoning .. I even sprinkle it on my popcorn.

I enjoy low or “fat free” mayonnaise and only use it occasionally
