Learn the burn

Submitted by admin Read more cardio, daily challenge, healthy living, organizing, and toning up
Challenge Yourself for: 24 Hours

How many calories do different activities burn? If you’re like us, you’ll be surprised! Some of your favorites may be more beneficial than you think, whereas the ones you dread may be less effective than you’d imagine. Plus, you should learn about “invisible” work like heavy cleaning. Turns out, scrubbing those floors and moldings burns as much as playing soccer. Who knew? Today, challenge yourself to list exactly what you do each week – and find out how much many calories you’re burning.

Always consult a physician before starting any exercise routine.

On an average week my goal is to get 225 minutes of excerise and burn at least 2300 calories. Today I went to curves and burned 486 calories, heavy cleaning for 60 minutes and burned 350 calories, did 30 minutes of gardening and burned 123 calories.

I exercise 6 day per week at the gym. I run 3 days per week for 50 minutes usually outside and bike for 50 minutes 3 days per week. I train mainly with free weights with some weight machines 6 days per week. On Sunday, I may go for a fast walk for 1-1 1/2 hours but then again, I may take this as a complete rest day.

I run two to three miles five days a week. I play raquetball once a week for 60 minutes, I train with weights 3-4 days a week for at least 30 minutes and I bike for 20-30min 4 days a week. I do not meet my fitness goal in five days (3500 calories) then I may do extra on Sunday like a 4 mile walk.

I swim a mile in the community pool once a week along with my other work out routine which is for the rest of the week. I will either bike, treadmill, eliptical, weight machine, garden or yoga to make a total of an hour a days workout. To stay active is the key to being healthy followed by proper eating habits.

Found a new walking trail at a local National Monument: 3.5 miles moderate (varying elevations and terrain). Shooting for every other day, alternating with strength & conditioning at local city health club. 6 days/week.
