Learn the burn
How many calories do different activities burn? If you’re like us, you’ll be surprised! Some of your favorites may be more beneficial than you think, whereas the ones you dread may be less effective than you’d imagine. Plus, you should learn about “invisible” work like heavy cleaning. Turns out, scrubbing those floors and moldings burns as much as playing soccer. Who knew? Today, challenge yourself to list exactly what you do each week – and find out how much many calories you’re burning.

I love to do pilates and do an hour of cardio 3 times per week. Eating well is a staple in our home and I love to make my own bread.
In addition to faithfully going to the gym at least 5 days @week—resistance 3 days and treadmill (elevated/4.0-4.2mph) or rowing 30-45 minutes 2 days, I’ve been mowing two yards once a week; trying to snack on fruits and drinking at least 6 glasses of water @day. Exhausting at times but makes me feel great!
I got some exercise today by vaccuming and windexing windows! Its actually a very good workout.

went to lettuce lake park, walked for two hours, took photos of birds had a nice lunch of kashi cerals and returned to normal life
Been riding my bike to work everyday this Summer. It feels wonderful! I feel the BURN!
I rode my bike to the train 1 mile, then rode to work 2 miles, then to train 2 miles, then home 1 mile. Total 6 miles.
I have been working out 5 days a week mixing cardio and weight lifting—today was my day off though!
I went on the treadclimber for 60 minutes, level 12, top speed (4.0), then cooled down to step at level 12, 0.7 miles. I burned 647 calories.
I did a pilates class, along with 20 minutes on the elliptical, and then took the kids swimming. It has been a full day!
So, if I cook for 30 minutes and do dishes for 10 minutes, I will burn about 84 calories! That is so crazy, I never thought about how even housework burns calories.
i have joined a gym that offers child care for only 5 extra dollars a month…i have been working out at least 6 days a week now! not only does it allow me to get to the gym, but i also get me time, which is always appreciated :)
circuit training for an hour…burned about 400 calories as usual
I burn a ton of calories each day, because I jog for 20 minutes every night.
I walk my dog every morning. Sometimes 10 minutes, my challenge is to do it for 20 minutes at least 3 times a week.
Hi, I do aerobics 5x/week. one hour sessions. Weight train 3x/week. Hike 2x.mont . I have to see what I can accomplish. I am very happy when I can challange myself. never say “I can’t.”
I took a fifteen minute break and took a walk.
(Also – I’m very active and up and down, but I have a hard time believing that the average person’s day of office work burns 240 calories an hour. Wow. That would mean that after an 8 hour day, a woman would have burned the approximate equivalent to her recommended daily calories! I’d like to know what activities they included in an hour of office work.)
I walk at least 30 minutes everyday, and today will be no exception. And then I Wii-Fit when I get home.
I walked for about 6 minutes, stretched, ran/jogged for about 45 minutes, then walked to cool down for about 10 minutes. Not sure how much I burned, but at least I know that I was active doing something.
Walked my daughter to school, did 4 loads of laundry in front loading water conserving washing machine, washed dishes, cooked breakfast, lunch and dinner for family of 6, took clothes to rooms and bathed 3 children… Come on… that must be like a bazillion calories!
