Forgo fast

Challenge Yourself for: 24 Hours

Generally, we prefer suggesting what you should do to promote natural eating to what you shouldn’t. That said, if ever there’s a place for boycotts, it’s in the land of fast (read = processed) food. Today, challenge yourself to embrace slower food preparation methods. Eat one meal that’s completely homemade from natural whole foods.

I eat plenty of fresh fruit each day. I am eating Kashi entrees for dinner. For breakfast I make my special oatmeal with a touch of cinnamon. I feel pretty good about my food choices now. I was stopping at our local Wendy’s at least once a week (if not more) to pick up a frosty or a small cheeseburger thinking that I had earned this reward for something or other. Then I noticed I was putting weight back on and also the worst part was I didn’t feel like I had the energy I had previously. I am happy to say that now I feel better, sleep better and my energy level is back to normal. I think about that when I pass Wendy’s now.

13 years ago, I changed most of my life. I stopped eating prepackaged and proceeded foods and mostly eat only food from scratch that I cook. I also grow organic herbs & veggies in my small yard in Florida because the cost of organic veggies are too expensive.
I have tried Kashi and I like the cereals. I was disappointed when I tried the “Chicken Pasta Pomodro” from a coupon. Unfortunately, the instructions were only for a microwave. What good is it eat natural food that a MICROWAVE removes all the enzymes??? I don’t even allow a microwave into my house. I did put it into the oven and it was … OK. I do admire Kashi for presenting so many organic & natural food choices. Live & let Live…

I wish I really would of been more alert to natural and organic when I was pregnant. My poor son has so many health problems.

I always try to make homemade meals then eat processed foods. My husband was brought up with whole foods and all organic. So he is very particular in foods tasting fresh and homemade. We normally don’t feel so good after we eat fast foods, so we try to stay away from them as much as possible. It does take more time, but it is worth it in the long run.

I have been trying to do this since October but I have been more strict for the past two months. Although I have gone out a few times I try to keep all the other foods raw fruits and veggies. I feel great! I haven’t felt sick at all (normally I get sick about 4 times for about a week every 3 months or so). I am def. going to keep with this for the rest of my life! Im glad I started young even though I was brought up on fast food. My family has changed their eating habits because I wanted to eat healthier. We are in this together:)

I started concentrating on eating natural whole foods three or four weeks ago. It does take a little more effort and time, but seems to be worth it. I’ve managed to break through a plateau that I’ve been struggling with for several months now. And, I believe in the long run, I’ll see a cost savings, not to mentioned good health benefits.
