With the right toppings, pancakes can be part of a nutritious breakfast. Some yummy and healthy ideas:
• Blueberries (rich in antioxidants)
• Bananas (potassium)
• Flax seed (Omega-3s)
• Grated dark chocolate (flavonoids)
• Sesame seeds (vitamins and minerals)
• Nut butters or nuts (protein and fiber)

The next time you indulge in pancakes, challenge yourself to substitute fruits and natural ingredients for syrups and sugary toppings.

I use low-fat milk and fresh mixed berry to make my pancakes. I make a whole lot in one time so I can freeze them individually. Whenever you want to eat pancakes put them in the microwave for one and a half minutes. That saves you a lot of time in the morning.

I love to make healthy pancakes with only whole-grain flours (oats, spelt, wheat, etc). I usually top mine with strawberries that I have frozen and then defrosted overnight in the fridge. They get a nice syrupy strawberry nectar with them that way, so it’s like a ready-made syrup! YUM!

My husband loves to make pancakes. He added my homemade,no sugar added, applesauce instead of part of the oil and topped them with my homemade, little sugar added, apple butter.

I started making buckwheat pancakes with flaxseed and blueberries and now I am hooked. I also tried walnuts and the were really good. Next is to add fruit toppings. I have been adding the fruit and nuts right into the batter.

Almond Butter is my favorite out of all nut butters so far. Go try it, the best almond butter is with the shells removed. With the shelves in it, it’s probably better for you but go out and try Almond Butter. It’s wonderful. :D

I use an electric coffee grinder only for flax seeds, grind them every morning and add to oatmeal, cereal, pancakes, etc. has a great nutty flavor and gives me an energy boost!

I love buckwheat or whole wheat pancakes. I like to add a can of pumpkin, honey, cinnamon and pumpkin pie spice. It taste like healthy pumpkin pie. So YUMMY!!!. I usually top it with pure maple syrup, honey or Amish made pumpkin butter. Another great add in to pancakes is oatmeal, rasins and cinnamon. Taste like an oatmeal cookie. YUMMY!!

I put a handful of old fashioned oats in the batter and some flax seeds, as well as blueberries. You dont even notice the oats or flax seeds. I often mix whole wheat and white flour together too.
