Measure your middle
Excess abdominal fat is commonly used as an indicator of less-than-optimal fitness. Today, challenge yourself to get out your measuring tape and take an honest look at your measurements. Then, write them down in a log. This is a great way of having quantitative evidence that your workouts are working, especially on the days when you’re feeling less than motivated.
I have started exercising again and need to be pushed to stick with it, so I can lose my middle again. Today, I am at 40 inches.
Ok…I’m willing to try this…I am a little nervous about posting because I’ve gotten so out-of shape! But today I am measuring 37” around my middle…I guess I WILL go to the gym tomorrow morning!
When I started in April, I measured at 38 inches. Today I am at 35. My goal is 32, just three more to go. I can do it!
I began exercising, again, a week ago. I did not measure my middle, but today I did and am at 35. My goal is to be 29 or 30. I want to do this by the end of August ‘08. Wish me luck.
I exercise and i am also measuring my middle and i and at 35 now. I need to step up my game.
I think a key to getting results from exercise is making it a habit. I’ve hear it said that it takes 3 solid weeks of doing something before it is firmly ingrained as a new habit. Anybody heard anything similar or related?
Today I am at 39 inches, I want to be down to 32. I need to start exercising more and lose some weight soon.
measured myself today at 40 in. I recently started working out again so we will see what happens.
Retired and eager to get going. Measured myself today at 45! Started working out a week ago and eager to go down to 27. Any incentives greatly appreciated. Mind set is now at GO FOR IT stage!
Wish me luck, will keep you posted.
I recently went to a health screening where my waist was measured. They said that it was right on target.
Ok, this is day one of a new challenge for a healthy life and body. Today, my middle measures around 38 inches, and am not sure how many inches I’d like to get down to, exactly. But I do know I’d like to feel healthier, and not be able to grab so much excess fat around my mid-section.
Mine is good. Not going to say what it is, because being a dancer puts me in a different boat. But its just fine for a ballet dancer.
I’m 34 right around my tummy, 28 higher in my waist area. I’m wanting to get rid of the excess, firm and tone. Day 1 – I’m starting the Slim in 6 exercise program and following the diet advice which is all about fresh, natural foods (several small meals throughout the day), including plenty of whole grains (this is where the Kashi comes in…yes!).
I’m at a 37 waist and want to know if there are any exercises to trim your tummy?
I just had to buy new “work clothes” (fun) for a conference because all my old nice stuff didn’t fit (not fun). I measured the waist of the pants I want to get back into and found I have about 5 inches to lose…I can do it!...I think.
I am 35 inches. Mmmm…how do we trim this area? Aerobic exercise, right? I have been working out in the gym for the past month and a half, and I feel better, but I do know that I have to clean up my eating.
Today I was 34 around the hips and 32.25 around my waist. I want to get back into my pants from before Christmas which is one size.
Today I am taking my weight seriously, My stomache is embarassing. My middle is 36. I want to shrink my stomache .
I find that I panic about my mid section everytime we have a social event. I go along nottaking care of myself until I am going to have to go to my husbands office picnic. Then I freak out and brood and work myself to death. I want to start today working on maintenance that I will keep up and be ready when any occasion hits. My midsection is 35.
Well I walk my puppy, but you know that’s never enough.I have inches to go.
Is my waist the smallest section between bust and hips? Or at my “natural” waist?
this sounds like a really good idea…im going to start a log tonight
Hello All, well I go to the gym about 3 to 5 times a week.. but I can’t seem to slim down my waist :(
so today I have decided that I will concentrate on working on my mid area… and stop thinking that is boring :p
The saying is 80% is what you eat and 20% is what you do, so what I have decided to do, in addition to working out, I am going to really start watching what I put in my mouth. I have also heard that it is the intense cardio that helps the most with shrinking your waistline.
I have started jogging a little over a mile and a half with my friend at work during part of our lunch break. She is in very good shape and says she will help me work towards a 5K, which is inspiring.
I has already planned to do this challenge today before I got onto this site! What a coinsidence!
I have completed my measurements. Around Waist – 37” Around Thigh – 21” I am so PEAR shaped its not funny!
my waist is at 27 at the smallest part and 29 just below my belly button. My goal is to be 27 just below the belly button, hopefully my hips will follow, their currently 38, I’d like them to be 36. I think these measurements mirror my goal body weight and shape.
I measured 33 1/2” my goal is 29”.
I’ve been doing this for two years and the only thing that was noticeably smaller were my waist and chest… which isnt good because i have that hourglass figure. I heard the first thing you lose when you work out is your boobs which is not cool!
I have been measuring since January. I have gone from a 37 to a 34.75. I love it. Those couple of inches make a huge difference. I still would love to lose at least 4 inches, but one inch at a time.
Three years ago my waist was anywhere from 34-36inches, last month it was about 31…. I KNOW I need to go down to at least 27 inches though…....and smaller if I want to “compete” in figure compititions….........
Started walking and biking last week, I like looking at the inches rather than my scale…it seems more friendly. So I measured today at 38 inches, love to get back to 30 inches…wish me luck.
Woohoo! I’ve lost 1/2 an inch…I’m now 37.5 inches…slow and steady works for me.
