Challenge Yourself for: 2 days

Visiting an organic farm can be an exhilarating experience for children and adults alike. Many tours focus on sustainability, education, and farming best practices. And some even end the day with a meal cooked with the farm’s freshest produce. This weekend, challenge yourself to find an organic farm in your area (or near your next vacation destination) and plan a trip.

(When logging progress for this challenge, only log as many days as you participated the activity within the 2-day time frame.)

We have an Organic Farm within the city limits. I now it sounds funny, but someone was thinking ahead enough to partition off 22 acres in a city and set them aside for a farm. We visit the farm on their Open House days.

Definitely no organic farms near here. The closet is the food I purchase. Or touring one online virtually counts?

We have an organic farm right in the heart of downtown. Not only does it help the environment and community, but the worker’s are part of a number of recovery programs so they are getting help and valuable skills as well. We love buying produce and visiting with the workers.

I visited Tierra Miguel Farms – sponsored by Kashi! It was an eye opening experience about how the food I eat is created and about how much the industrialized farm is producing our food. Local is definitly the way to go. We are now inspired to take it one step further and join a CSA. Community Supported Agriculture is a great way to support your local farmer, get the freshest food, and be happy knowing the nurioushment you receive is made organically.
