I saw this great article in our local newspaper today about growing herbs in a rooftop garden. More interestingly, though, is at the bottom of the article there are tons of recipes for fresh herbs:

I love to make grilled cheese sandwiches with fresh basil leaves on the sandwich. I also love to roast red potatoes with a little olive oil and rosemary!!

The more fresh herbs the better! Once a week, I try to stop at one of the larger asian supermarkets and pick up piles of cilantro, mint, and basil. This summer, i am growing my own basil, chives, rosemary, dill and arugula – so it super easy for me to go nuts with the herbs. I’m just doing it in pots in my driveway – so if i can do it, anyone can!

The more herbs the better. I’ve recently planted basil, spearmint, oregano and am trying to incorporate rosemary and dill. Not much luck there. I cook with fresh herbs, there’s nothing that quite compares to going to your garden and cutting bazil, oregano and adding it to your food. That’s personal satisfaction.

Yesterday I made homemade salsa which included tomatoes, 2 cloves of garlic, garlic salt, Cilantro, and Jalepenos. It was easy to make and also makes a healthy snack.

jbrauns I also put herbs on my grilled cheese. I like to think I make the best grilled cheese! Try this: spread some brie (the spreadable kind, not the hard kind with rind) on one or both sides of bread, add some grated gruyère and grated parmesan, sprinkle oregano, and then grill. I think I also used to add another cheese, maybe provolone but I can’t remember.

I found the winter farmer’s market and I enjoyed the herbed flat bread (roasted garlic & everything) and the herbed goat cheese as well as herbs in oil & vinegar. Very spicy and tasty—new for me although probably usual for some of you. Glad I tried them.
