Challenge Yourself for: 7 days

It’s easy to overlook the small dietary choices we make every day that actually add up to big calorie additions at the end of the week. Our beverages are one of these items. This week, challenge yourself to write down your beverages every day. At the end of the week, find an online calorie calculator and add up all your extra calories for the week. They might be what’s holding you back from your health goals.

(When logging progress for this challenge, only log as many days as you participated the activity within the 7-day time frame.)

I seldom drink high calorie drinks, but need to cut back to only 4 diet sodas a week.

I like this.. but I don’t think I’ll give up Coffee as that’s only 12 calories.. its what you put in it.. but that’s my treat generally.. I try not to drink pops or juices. Milk too, and some V8juice and then water..
But it would be interesting to tally. I’ll check back when I’ve got it down.

I tried to post but not sure if it worked so I’ll try again.
I am pretty good when it comes to my liquid intake. I love water with lemon and typically have one cup of coffee or tea per day. I actually just had a tiny v-8 which I believe is 30 calories so in my mind…no biggie.
I sometimes also splurge and get an iced soy chai but need to start getting it made with the tea bag and honey as opposed to the frothy delicious powered mix that I’m sure has sugar and milk in it.
Oh geeze, I almost forgot. Happy hour Belgian Beer is my downfall. I HAVE to watch those. :)

stone 982…I understand. I recently discovered that I enjoy a good Belgian Beer, too. Does the iced soy chai have caffeine?

Thanks for the V-8 suggestion, I fogot how much I enjoy those.

Ameyers~ In response to the chai tea…it all depends. Some places used an instant tea powder and other places use tea bags. Black tea is normally the main tea used in a chai and that DOES have caffeine in it. I have although had green tea chai which was made with a powder so I can’t really say if it did or not. Best bet would be to ask. :)

I am drinking my v-8 now!

I’ll have to try the chai tea. Lately, I’ve been drinking smoothies. I enjoy the afternoon smoothie instead of an iced coffee. I used to drink coffee in the morning and afternoon…horrible! I’m thinking about the morning juice hhyperpixie suggested but I’m not quite there.

I need to cut back on my coffee intake. I must have at least 2 cups in the morning, and get starbucks in the afternoon, sometimes more than once. anyone have some tasty and healthy alternatives?

I need to cut way back on red wine. I do drink lots of water, and at times I drink clubsoda with a lemon slice. I drink two cups of coffee in the A.M.I love V8 juice.

I too needed to ease off on the red wine and did so by having one glass with dinner.

I only drink water, I don’t like to waste my calories on drinks and I love water.

I’m in the same boat as DingusMagee. I love my coffee. stone982 suggested Chai Tea. It’s not quite the same but a good alternative. Green tea is another good alternative.

I used to be a cokeaholic, but it started to show, sizewise and healthwise. Now I drink 48 oz of water a day. I drink 8 oz of V8 juice with lunch. 8 oz of V8 is a serving size, I’m not at home so I do not know the calorie count, but it is not much. stone982 said a “tiny” v8 is 30 calories.

I did not drink coffee until a few years after I married my husband. I have cut down to one cup in the morning and sometimes a cup of tea in the evening. I keep saying I lived 45 years without coffee, I can do it again!!!!! :) BUT I CAN’T

cardwellgina, I started drinking coffee after I got married, too. I used to hate coffee but times changed! What kind of tea do you prefer? Do you drink caffeinated tea?

I have only had one soda in 16 months! No more CODE RED or Diet Coke! Water and some tea work as great substitutes! Fresh spearmint, too!

amyers, I am not a big tea drinker but when I do it is decaff earl gray, that is what my husband drinks every night. Sometimes I get a different tea just for me but it is nothing special.

If anyone wants to know 8oz serving size of V8 is 60 calories

I am now drinkin 72oz of water a day, I hope that is enough!!!!!!! ;)

I have been trying to drink 8 8ounces of water daily. In place of the 3 coffee I normally drink.
I dislike constantly running to the bathroom. At this point i am at 4 glasses per day. Everyday i will try to increase.

I’ve heard drinking more than 8 glasses of water a day has no health benefit. Has anyone else heard this information?

i drink lots and lots of water. i also enjoy unsweet tea. it is very important that you drink plenty of water through out the day..!!

I’ve started adding whey powder protein to my milk. Frozen milk and powder are great, too. It adds so much substance and extra protein.

I gave up drinking soda over a year ago and I have successfully stuck to it. the main things I drink are water, skim milk, green tea, fruit juice once in a while and low fat hot chocolate when I need some comfort.

Do you like organic skim milk? If so, what brand do you drink?
