Locally grown foods are not only beneficial for the environment, they’re often a lot fresher and cheaper too. Then, there’s the added bonus of supporting local businesses.

Make an effort this week to find out where and when your community’s next local farmers’ market takes place. Plan a trip.

(We’ve given you 7 days to complete your research. When you log your progress, you only need to log as many days as you think are applicable.)

Haven’t found a CSA challenge but I’ll post this here…we joined one today.
Actually had made first efforts i October, but they’d just stopped for the season.
    Can’t wait! Fresh eggs, too!

Isn’t it amazing what we can do as a people to suppiort those hard-working farmers?
Prices can vary and in some instinces/not all even be more expensive but don’t you just hate it when you taste a tomatoe or anything at the store and it does not even taste like one?? Our culture today is mass produce and profits. We lose touch with the quality/freshness aspect.

A Farmer’s Market is a great way to support local growers/producers and get optimal taste and nutrition at the same time for yourself.

That farm in Nantucket sounds great! Finally, I’m home on a Sunday and can go to my local farmers market. This time of year, I like to find peaches and plums there as they seem to be a lot sweeter than what I find at the store.

There’s a few farms so close to my house, out in Fairfield and Napa, some u-pick farms too, and I found their prices are lower than the farmer’s markets and the food is even better than the farmers markets and a million times better that what I’m finding at the grocery store!

I love my local farmer’s market that’s been around over 100 years. Bartlett’s farm on Nantucket Island is wonderful. They grow organic greens, veggies, flower and plants, and import other produce. They have a great selection of cheeses, olives, meats and have a bakery and fresh deli/prepared foods. They are like a mini whole foods market. I love supporting a local farm that has been such a huge part of the local economy and history of this island. :) http://www.bartlettsfarm.com

Well haven’t got to a new one yet, but did find a listing of some in my area which I will check out as soon as I can. Do go to one held in Freehold each Tuesday. It’s small but maybe it will catch on.

There are a couple farmers markets I want to check out in the area that I found on Yelp! I need to find something to replace the Ferry Building in San Francisco.
