Walk the city streets
One of the best ways to discover a city – even your own – is to ramble the streets on foot. The people, culture and landscape feel more vivid when you see them in real-time rather than whizzing by. And many cities offer walking tours for a range of interests and fitness levels. Challenge yourself to find a route that takes you places you’ve never been.
(When logging progress for this challenge, only log as many days as you participated the activity within the 30-day timeframe.)
I walk everday for for at leasr an hour, and it feels great
I know there are some wooded trails in my town, I’d like to keep my daughter interested in the outdoor beauty by bringing her along with me. She’s only 4, so I probably won’t get a brisk walk with her, but I think bringing her along on some of them will be fun.
I live in a city where walking and bike riding is encouraged so I will have no problem with this challenge thinking I could walk halfway to where I need to go at first and work my way up instead of catching the bus
I have started to walk at least 2 miles everyday…or 30 minutes….which is usually about the same….and for the past week i have felt great!!!
I work out 3x a week at a gym and walk a minnium of 5x a week for at lest an hour
I try to walk everyday for at least 45 to an hour, depending on the weather and my Siberian. I have three dogs, not all the same activity level, so I need to motivate myself to ride my bike with Panda and then can walk easily with the little dogs.
I live in small town America and walk everyday, especially now that the price of gasoline has risen so much. I also have a dog and he loves to go for walks.
I walk 10,000 steps or more a day, found a great pocket pedometer to chart my progress…....no excuses or cheating, it’s all recorded. I now plan my day around how many steps yet to go for the day.
I found a friend to walk with me and I’m finding a lot easier to get off my rump. I guess just knowing that someone is waiting for me each day helps me get going.
I try to walk outside as much as I can for at least an hour anywhere from between 3 to 7 days a week. I like to change the scenery around a bit too so I don’t get tired of it and that way it doesn’t seem like a robotic routine. It’s great to breathe in the fresh air and watch the seasons change. I have a few different walking paths that I have made for myself through the surrounding neighborhoods and away from the busy streets, occasionally find a walking trail.
It’s makes me feel good, sleep well and is good all round for mind, body and spirit!
Sometimes hubby will get off his rump with me too.
i work in a small city so this shouldn’t be to difficult! (i hope :))
i walk a 2 mile (blocks) around town on my lunch hour, good way to get some exercise and see how other people decorate their homes, so it’s beneficial in 2 ways now by exercise and giving me new ideas :)
As I travel the world, I have found that walking in a city is fun. You never know what is around the corner. In Chaing Mai Thailand, I was walking and came on a local parade. But on of the best things is you get to meet the people. I may not know the lingo, but I can alway “talk” to them.
i walk to and from work every day, 2.5 miles in each direction. it helps me save money since i dont need to take the subway to work, or use my car.
I walk for 30 minutes every afternoon during my lunch hour. This is a great supplement to my exercise routine and it helps me to feel energized for the rest of the day. I also walk four blocks to and from my workout at Curves where I have been a member since 2003.
We recently moved to town and I’ve been trying to figure out the best place to walk around our house, but I like this idea. This is a pretty small town and I’ve lived here all my life, but I’m sure there are streets I’ve never been on before. This will be an interesting experience. My first goal will be walking to the chamber of commerce to pick up a map of the town!
