Bike to work

According to the US Census Bureau, hundreds of thousands of Americans commute this way – and bicycling organizations believe this figure is low. The best thing about biking to work is that you get a daily dose of exercise and reduce your carbon footprint at the same time. Today, challenge yourself to try biking to work. Always consult a physician before starting any exercise routine.

I did this yesterday, and really found I enjoyed being outside and getting the fresh air-It was much more fun than driving and it only took me 5 more minutes by bike to get to my work than it does by car.

I can’t bike to work because I take my daughter (3 years old) to daycare across the street from work which is 23 miles from my home. I am going to bike to work on bike to work day (May 15th every year) and have her father bring her to daycare that day. I have made a challenge for myself not to drive to the store for any reason. I have a burley bicycle trailer which I put my daughter in as well as use it for grocery storage when she is not with me. I love it. I have been able to do this for three and a half months now, rain or shine! I generally do a little over 100 miles a week plus a good 100 miles extra on the weekends that she is with her father. I absolutely love it. I have not felt healthier or looked better since before I was pregnant with her. I’ve even dropped 16 pounds! Good luck everyone.. remember your body can do anything, it’s just convincing the mind that is the real challenge!

I try to do this on a regular basis. It helps me be more alert at work & makes the day go by faster.
