Bring balance to your digestive tract

Most people know that fiber is important for healthy digestion. But did you know that digestive harmony is also supported by beneficial bacteria? Probiotics help break down foods and maintain digestive balance, crowding out the bad bacteria. Where can we find them? In yogurts with “live cultures”, buttermilk, some fermented foods, supplements, and shelf-stable foods like breakfast cereals. Today, challenge yourself to eat a food with probiotics and be good to your gut.

We have Kashi Vive at home but I haven’t tried it yet. I think I am scared. I will overcome my fear this weekend and give it a try. Isn’t that completing two challenges in one?

@Shelby: Haha, overcoming your fear and balancing your gut? Yes, definitely. You should sign up and complete the “Confront a fear or phobia” challenge too!

It’s kind of late so I’ll pick up this challenge tomorrow since I really don’t want to eat right now. What a great site.

This was more difficult than I thought! I went straight to the yogurt section and threw in a few different brands that stated all this wonderful stuff on them. Lucky me, I paused, read the back and none of them had “live active cultures” in them. TOTALLY SHOCKED!!! Maybe I’m a bit slow but they had “active cultures” but none that were alive. I finally found one that had “live active cultures” at a price I could afford and got enough for me to do this challenge for the rest of the week. I’m happy with myself. :)

I LOVE fiber! The Kashi Go Lean Crunch is my favorite cereal. I like to put fruit and berries in it. Plus black beans are a good source. I was scared at first to try them because they looked so gross, but they are actually my favorite bean now. Good luck!

I tried this early in the year. I ate yogurt with the live active cultures. It was the easiest thing to grab for a snack at work. I felt so much better in less than a week. So when i saw this challenge i was ready to do it. Can’t wait to feel better!!

I tried the Kashi Vive, it is a little different in texture, but hoping to see great results. Love Kash Go Lean Crunch also. I add organic dried cranberries to it, wonderful. I also have added yogurt to my diet, which for over 20 years was afraid to try since it states it has live cultures, who knew they were actually good for me. This site is wonderful I am learning a lot!

I think the yogurt would be great! Calcium & active live bacteria! Saw a product “Probiotic” on the Kashi product list. Will check for it at the grocery stores this weekend! Thanks, Kashi!

My Naturopath suggested I add probiotics to my life style so just got some capsules earlier in the week. I’m looking forward to seeing if I feel a difference

I went to the local natural foods store and found some raw sauerkraut with ‘live cultures’. When I asked a sales clerk about how I could eat it (I don’t eat much meat), she told me that she opens the jar before each meal and eats a couple pinches. So, I bought some and tried this technique this morning. I’m surprised at how I kinda liked the taste. I’m gonna see how I feel after a week or so. I’ll let you know how it goes!

Kashi cereal and snack bars are a staple at my house. I like the idea of granola, fruit and yogurt. 12 hour work days needs healthy snacks!!

Watch out for the sugar in yogurt and cereals. Best to buy plain yogurt and add fruit to sweeten.

I’ve been seeing a nutritionist and have been increasing my fiber intake to 20 grams. Yesterday I added Planters Heart Healthy nuts for the Digestive track. They are excellent and addictive so I’m challenging myself to eat only the recommended portions for the day.

I do eat a lot of yogurt, must check now to make sure there are “live cultures” in it. Have been drinking soy milk, chocolate flavor…wow I love it. Like this site, could be a favorite place real soon.

I’ve been eating Kashi Vive for several months. It has definitely regulated my digestive track, although I think I need to stop eating it every day as it makes me unable to stray far from the bathroom. I’m wondering if it is bad to eat Vive everyday?
