Know what to eat

March is National Nutrition Month®. Sponsored by the American Dietetic Association (ADA) every year, this campaign’s goal is to focus attention on the importance of developing healthy eating habits and maintaining good physical activity levels.

This month, make an effort to learn the basics of nutrition and healthy lifestyle practices. Then, make a plan to integrate some of what you’ve learned into your current lifestyle. (Here’s a great resource on the ADA’s website to get you started: Nutrition Fact Sheets.)

One of my tasty healthy foods Kashi granola parfait!:

About 1/4 cup FRESH blueberries and a few large strawberries, sliced.
1/3 c. KASHI Summer Berry Granola
1 c. Organic Vanilla yogurt.

Layer (Yogurt first, Granola, Berries) and enjoy!

Or try fresh sliced bananas instead of the berries with the Cocoa Beach granola instead of the Summer Berry flavor YUMMY!

Since beginning of Feb I began Weight Watchers Flex Points.. while not actually joining them. I have been eatign Egg Beaters, turkey bacon, low cal multigrain toast.. a few hours later, a bowl of kashi cereal cold or oatmeal and a banana.. lunch is a sandwich, no condiments, 2 hours later, I eat usually a salad.. a few hours later, yogurt, rice cake or kashi tlc.. then a good healthy dinner. I have not strayed over the points yet, and I am not even using the 35 free points I am allowed to have. I have already dropped 10 pounds.. and feeling really good about it. I do nto even crave junk anymore!

I’m one of those crazy “health nut” mom’s. So this isn’t much of a challenge. Breakfast, Oatmeal people (Oatmeal with cut fruit placed to make a face)- Snack, Kashi Bar (We had the Pumpkin one today… pumpkin spice?) – Lunch, Salmon and asparagus. – Snack, Mango (My daughter’s favorite snack.) – Dinner, Spinach turnovers (who knows what they should really be called. We kind of made them up.)

Love the kashi cookies. I have recently started a healthy living eating program through Kraft foods and I love it and I feel great!

Reading ideas on on what people are eating to get or stay healthy. I haven’t tried Kashi products until now. I agree with sailfish to stop the fast food.

Who has some suggestions on the best foods to eat at lunch time to avoid the sleepy feeling that often comes after a mid-day work out?
