Write a grocery list
What you buy at the grocery store really determines what you eat until your next shopping trip…and what you snack on. That’s why it’s very important to plan your meals for the week and write out a grocery list. Other good reasons for making a list: your trip will probably be quicker, you’ll avoid impulse buys, and you might even reduce your grocery bill.
Today, start your grocery list for the next time you make a trip to the store.
I keep an ongoing list hanging on the fridge. Otherwise I’ll inevitably forget something, make another quick trip to the store, and end up with a bunch of other stuff that I didn’t really need. The list is a super time-saver!
This is a fantastic idea. I have been doing it for over 23 years. I look at the weekly ads and make my weekly dinner menu from the specials if possible.
Love this. I make a menu plan and then make my grocery list accordingly and buy only organic.
I never go to the store without my shopping list…its too easy to buy things that I don’t really need! I would probably be too wasteful if I didn’t use a list.
I am all about a grocery list! I also have one on the fridge! Makes life so much easier!
I kind of HAVE to have a list or I forget, plus it saves me time, gas (extra trips back) and money! When I make a menu, I go by what I want to eat since I don’t get the paper to look at store ads(saves paper). So I try to make menus with interchangeable ingredients so I don’t have to buy such a large variety of items! We also have a “fend for yourself night” where we eat the leftovers of our choice.
I love grocery lists, yet I still make the impulse buys! I keep a note pad on the fridge and add to it whenever we run out of something.
I always write a list!! It saves me the stree of forgeting something and I don’t overspend!! In and out fast, there are better things to do!!
I am so bad writing out shopping lists so I am going to challange myself to start writing them and bring them to the store with me,
I also keep an ongoing list on the fridge. That way, if my husband uses the last of something, he can also add to it. Before I go to the store on grocer day, I check all of my coupons and mark the list so I know what to watch out for.
This is something I’ve been doing for a while now and it works great for me. I learn not to overbuy and save cash by not going to the grocery store hungry!
I am now at the point in my life that if I do not write a shopping list, I do not get everything I need. In fact I usually make lists for all my errands. Now I just need to find a fool proof way of not forgetting to bring the list with me.
I take out all of my cookbooks on Sunday morning and prepare my menu for the week (Sunday-Saturday). As I prepare the menu for each day, I write down the ingredients that I will need on my grocery list. This helps me avoid purchasing unnecessary items. I also try to purchase food that I can prepare double duty meals with. Like buying chicken breasts and potatoes so I could make chicken cutlets with mashed potatoes on Monday then grilled chicken and roasted potatoes on Thursday. When friends and family come over and see my weekly menu on the refrigerator they think it’s a great idea and want to do it too.
I live b my list, but always end up with a few extras in the cart. I think that is what I will challenge myself on… keeping the extras to a minimum, or eliminating them altogether.
